Shani 2005
In Hebrew, one of the names for the color red is shani.
1. In Biblical times, when all of Jericho was destroyed by God, the only structure left standing was the house of Rachav, which was protected by a red shani.
2. At the time of the temples in Jerusalem, the People of Israel used to mark the most beautiful fruits in their orchards with a shani ribbon in order to bring the best of their crops to the temples.
Shani is made from a blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. It is aged for 18 months in oak barrels – and the result is this dark red wine with a fine aroma and mellow taste.
